Pros/Cons

I'm moving out of my apartment in the next few weeks, and have slowly been cleaning things out and trying to minimize the junk I carry to my next abode.

For about the past eight years, I've been carrying around this plastic bin of "stuff" that I've collected throughout college. I've always been somewhat of a pack-rat, but this takes it to a new level. There are old batteries, shot glasses, pieces of newspaper clippings that my mom sent me from the local paper -- all of which were about dogs we didn't know. There were floppy discs, CDs, wires that had no home. Candles, old computer speakers, frames and random pictures.

The most priceless item I found, however, was the item pictured above. It was a Pros/Cons list that I made with my girlfriends in college. We think it must've been in the winter, due to "Snow" on the con list. We were obviously sitting around our rooms, debating if we should go out to the same bar that we had frequented about five nights a week for the past four years. Obviously, one of us had a boyfriend that had broken up with us, hence the "CRYING" (underlined twice) and the "CHEATING" (also underlined) in the con section.

I can't tell you if we did end up going out that night -- we probably did, most likely due to the fact that "Allie will kill you" was written on the bottom of the paper (a sign that someone was definitely eager to go and needed wingmen.) I can tell you that it reminded me why I do save so much stuff -- because when I do find it again, it will make my day.

The 2009 Time 100

Time Magazine's "World's Most Influential People" list is out this week, and it's extremely fascinating.

I often find these lists somewhat boring -- the choices are usually obvious and the write-ups are so praising, you'd think these people paid good money for their description.

For some reason this year, I found myself glued to the list, almost reading all 100 posts. Sure, the list was still obvious -- Oprah was on there...again; Brad Pitt -- yeah, he's good looking and does a lot of charity. But there was also a terrific write-up of Bernie Madoff by Michael Moore, and Zac Efron by Claire Danes. I even found the one on Joaquin Guzman, the most powerful drug-smuggler in Mexico, who tops both the FBI's most wanted list -- and Forbe's billionaire list, facinating.

I highly suggest you take a look -- you might even learn something!
